Insights and awards from 2018 on the Butterfly Bank

Butterfly Bank – 2018 Annual report

2018 is over and what a year! I think we can all agree it was pretty eventful and Butterfly Bank was not excluded from some significant changes.

This year we launched two new themes: Love Bees and Love Ireland.

The Love Bee theme was developed in collaboration with The Oracle team to celebrate the importance of our bee population and give practical actions to take, at home and at work, to help save our bees. Since launch, the Love Bees theme has seen 96 individual actions have been taken to support bees. These include completing beekeeper training, joining the Big Butterfly Survey and installing a bee house.

To welcome our Irish colleagues to the platform, we launched the Love Ireland theme. This category is used to highlight the country-specific actions and volunteering opportunities available to our teams. Since launch, the Love Ireland theme has helped people to volunteer 80 hours of their time for good causes.

Here are 2018 headlines:

2,398,215 butterflies were banked by 368 Hammerson employees and 19 ABM and VSG teams.

63,748 individual sustainable actions were taken over the year.

3,734 hours were spent volunteering for good causes, this equates to 465 days.

Where’s Q4 stats?

If you’re missing out on finding what happened just in Q4, the quarterly recognition wall on the Home Page shows all the stats from the last three months of 2018.

Thank you to everyone who spent some of their time in 2018 banking their sustainable activities.

In 2019 your actions are all the more important, not just so we can recognise excellent achievement and encourage a sustainable lifestyle, but actions will also contribute to our Net Positive objective. Collective actions can make a significant contribution to carbon, water and resource saving and helping us meet our target.
