Clapton Girls’ Academy has a long and successful history of providing the best, forward thinking education for girls. It's a school where students are encouraged to reach their potential, value their progress and enjoy their experiences along the way. The closest Hammerson Asset to the school is Goodsyard.
At the Academy, students take part in various activities through the year. This year this activity included a Custom Made project for Year 8. The aim of these projects is to raise achievement and aspiration levels for students, develop their motivation and learn skills for the world of work.
Customer Made is run in conjunction with the Inspire! charity. Click the link to find out more about Inspire!
The Custom Made project looked at the world of fashion and fashion brands, something close to the hearts of people in Hammerson…
Hammerson staff helped to facilitate the delivery of a one-day enterprise programme, in which students develop skills for enterprise and employability.
Students were set the challenge of creating a brand for their own ‘fashion house’. They also designed and created a bag, cap, or t-shirt. Then costed up their products and create a marketing plan. Finally they pitched for a contract to host a catwalk fashion show at London Fashion Week.
Merossa Cofie, from the Hammerson London Office, said “It was a really rewarding and fun day. Fantastic to see the students learn so much from a well -structured enterprise challenge. It was also interesting to meet volunteers from other organisations.”
