What’s in season? November edition
The last blog post highlighted the importance of eating seasonally. Now let’s see what is growing this month.
November is an interesting month; winter is in full force and the root veg have their time to shine. Think cosy stews, hearty soups and full-blown comfort food…

Vegetables: artichoke, beetroot, butternut squash, cauliflower, celeriac, celery, chicory, horseradish, jerusalem artichoke, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, parsnips, potatoes (maincrop), pumpkin, salsify, shallots, swede, turnips, watercress, wild mushrooms
Fruit: apples, quince, clementines [i], cranberries [i], passion fruit [i], pears, pomegranate [i], satsumas [i]
Nuts and Herbs: almonds [i], brazil nuts [i], chestnuts, hazelnuts [i], rosemary, sage, walnuts [i]
Meat: beef, duck, goose, grouse, guinea fowl, hare, lamb, mallard, partridge, pheasant, rabbit, turkey, venison, wood pigeon
Fish: clams, cod, crab, dover sole, haddock, halibut, hake, lemon sole, lobster, mackerel, monkfish, mussels, oysters, plaice, pollock, red mullet, sea bass (wild), sea bream, skate, squid, turbot, winkles
