What’s in season? December edition
Another month on and Christmas in nearly upon us! Whilst you gorge on mince pies and mulled wine, have a think about what is in season. Maybe you can try to incorporate a few of these in-season goodies into your Christmas meal?
Vegetables: beetroot, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, celeriac, celery, horseradish, jerusalem artichoke, kale, leeks, parsnips, potatoes, shallots, swede, turnips, wild mushrooms.
Fruit: apples, clementines [i], cranberries [i], passion fruit [i], pears, pineapple [i], pomegranate [i], satsumas [i], tangerines [i].
Nuts: almonds [i], brazil nuts [i], chestnuts, hazelnuts [i], walnuts [i].
Meat: duck, goose, grouse, guinea fowl, hare, partridge, pheasant, rabbit, turkey, venison
Fish: clams, cod, dover sole, haddock, halibut, hake, langoustine, lemon sole, lobster, mackerel, monkfish, mussels, oysters, plaice, sea bass (wild), sea bream, skate, turbot.
