January is officially over and what a long one it was! Winter may not have released us from the cold but we can be look forward to some delicious seasonal food to keep us going. This month BBC suggest waging war on the cold with fortifying tagines, hearty stews and comfort food. Try roast venison with kale and or fish pies boasting fresh clams and mussels. Finish things off with rhubarb crumble. Take a look at the seasonal ingredients that can be filling your plate:

Vegetables: Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, celeriac, chicory, jerusalem artichoke, kale, leeks, parsnips, potatoes, purple sprouting broccoli, shallots, swede, turnips.
Fruit: blood oranges [i], clementines [i], kiwi fruit [i], lemons [i], oranges [i], passion fruit [i], pineapple [i], pomegranate [i], rhubarb.
Meat: guinea fowl, hare, partridge, turkey, venison.
Fish: clams, cockles, dab, dover sole, haddock, halibut, hake, langoustine, lemon sole, lobster, mackerel, mussels, oysters, red mullet, salmon, turbot.
